
American Education Week celebrates public education and honor the individuals working to ensure that every student receives a quality education. The week takes place prior to the week of Thanksgiving. Each day of the week has its own theme, during which we celebrate our public school community. Festivities honor the team of people who work in our nation’s public schools, everyone from the bus driver and classroom teacher to the cafeteria worker and administrative staff, plus countless others.
- Monday, November 15: Kickoff Day
Nationwide Kickoff. Across the country, schools will celebrate excellence in education by hosting kickoff events and activities. - Tuesday, November 16: Parents Day
Schools will invite parents into the classroom for a firsthand look at what the school day is like for their children. - Wednesday, November 17: Education Support Professionals Day
Education Support Professionals keep schools running and students safe, healthy and ready to learn. - Thursday, November 18: Educator for a Day
Community leaders will be invited to experience the day as educators and experience the challenges of teaching and the needs of students. - Friday, November 19: Substitute Educators Day
Substitute educators play a vital role in the maintenance and continuity of daily education.

We are excited to celebrate American Education Week from November 15-19, 2021! Established a century ago, this national weeklong event presents an opportunity to celebrate public education and show appreciation for the men and women who have devoted their careers to making a difference in students’ lives every day.
This year, American Education Week is more important than ever, as educators and support professionals work tirelessly to keep learning on track amid a global pandemic. Please know, your efforts to provide the very best to our students, families, and community members do not go unnoticed. As we nationally celebrate education, we thank and honor the MCIU Team of classroom teachers, administrative staff, support staff, and countless others who work tirelessly to enrich and inspire student lives every day!
