The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit proudly celebrated the 2026 graduates of Anderson School MCIU and Pathways to Empowerment, recognizing a group of seniors who have shown tremendous strength, resilience, and dedication throughout their journey.
This year’s graduates have faced challenges, embraced growth, and continued moving forward with determination. Their accomplishments reflect not only the hard work they have put in, but also the support of the educators, staff, families, and community members who have encouraged them along the way.
During the ceremony, graduates were recognized for reaching this important milestone, and several students received special awards honoring their achievements, leadership, and perseverance.
One of those honors was made possible through a longstanding partnership between Montgomery County Community College and Anderson School. For the past 18 years, Montgomery County Community College has awarded a full-tuition scholarship to an exceptional graduating senior who demonstrates academic growth, leadership, and good citizenship. Students are selected through an application process that includes a personal essay, which is shared anonymously and voted on by Anderson staff and administration.

A special thank you to Michael Harcum, Director of Admissions at Montgomery County Community College, for once again presenting the award at this year’s ceremony and for his continued support of Anderson School and its students.
Congratulations also to Max, this year’s recipient of the Dr. R. Thomas Marrone Resiliency Award. This award is presented to a graduating student who has shown resilience and determination in overcoming difficult obstacles while working toward the completion of their high school education. Max’s perseverance is a meaningful reminder of the courage and commitment it takes to keep going, even when the path is not easy.
