SAP: Student Assistance Program K-12, Certification Training
WHAT IS SAP?
The Pennsylvania Network administers the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) for Student Assistance Services (PNSAS), which is an interagency committee comprised of the PA Department of Education’s Office of School Climate and Wellbeing, PA Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, and the PA Department of Human Services’ Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
SAP training is designed to assist school personnel in identifying issues, including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues, which pose a barrier to a student’s success. The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) is to help students overcome these barriers so that they may achieve, remain in school, and advance. Schools and agencies wishing to add SAP team members need to enroll the new team member(s) in the 2-day training series.
Participants must attend both days to meet requirements. Opportunities are scheduled at various times throughout the year at MCIU and can also be provided virtually. Act 48 hours will be reported to PDE.
For more information or to request SAP Training, please fill out our Mental Health Professional Development Request Form.
