Infrastructure Services (Networking and Server Support)

Infrastructure Services provide technology support for a variety of Cybersecurity, networking and server services. Staff possess industry driven certifications enabling schools and districts to obtain services (listed below) via virtual, remote and on-site.

Colocation Service

MCIU provides a customized, cost-effective, scalable approach to all your Colocation, Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) needs.
Desirable for clients who require specialized and complete access to their equipment to avoid expense of building out a datacenter or infrastructure. Regional WAN members have the tremendous benefit of leveraging their high-speed fiber connections wot create dedicated Virtual LANS greatly simplifying access to their equipment while maintaining rock solid security.

Internet Services

The Montco K12 Network consortium consists of multiple, diverse ISP connections through PA for services to Montgomery County schools and districts. Distributed Denial of Services (DDOS) protection over multiple connections. Cloud DNS services – Self-Service, Failover and Role based Access Control (RBAC) for delegated DNS administration. In addition:

  • 24 x 7 Monitoring
  • Netflow statistics for capacity planning and troubleshooting
  • Easily and cost effectively scale via GB increments

Montgomery County Regional Education Network

The Montgomery County Regional Education Network provides Internet services to public school districts in Montgomery County and Vocational Technical Schools, as well as to participating non-public schools. The Regional Network Services are provisioned via high speed fiber optics with capacities ranging from 1GB to 10Gb speeds. The network supports services delivery to just under 200,000 students, staff, and administrators.

MCIU, in cooperation with Montgomery County Community College and Montgomery County Office of Information Technology Services, continues to build and expand the Strategic Network Alliance Partnership Agreement whereas Internet and connectivity services are purchased at greatly reduced rates with savings passed on to our schools.

User and Device Support

Technical support services are provided by staff possessing industry recognized certifications including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ADMT), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and manufacturer-specific endorsements. Choose from Tier I services (basic support to supplement initiatives, projects, and technology refreshes) or Tier II (Tier I plus assistance with one-to-one or BYOD initiatives and installation/support of labs, carts, peripherals, and more).

Technical Support Services for Educators

MCIU Technical Support Services for Educators is a unique program designed specifically for the needs of educators who are not currently receiving support from a district technology department. The service is provided remotely by staff possessing industry recognized certifications and who already support the k12 community. We are here to assist you with the latest mobility devices (iPhones, iPads), learning and using web services (Google and Dropbox), home networking (wireless, Apple TV), backup services, and much much more.
